Words I cannot stand

This is a simple post but its on my mind. Here are some word I loathe. Anybody wanna add some

Bling
Badonkadonk (or however the hell you spell it)
Sowing seeds (in a religious sense)
Crib (for a home)
Ride (for a car)
Pimp (for anything other than a prostitute's manager)
Ho
Booyah
Any sports originated term in a non sports sense (or sports sense for that matter)
Right-size (company)
Paradigm
800 pound gorilla (or 900 if hes really big)
Turnkey (sounds like turkey to me)
Deal (with regard to sales of any kind especially cars)
Any misused computer anatomy term (hard drive for computer, etc)
plugged-in (in a religious sense)
download (in a religious sense)

I guess I hate any term that gets stolen from another thing

Last month my college's theme was reparadigm. This meant get back in touch with God, and live a Godly life. You might not like this word, but I really liked it because of the meaning.

I didn't mean last month, I meant last term.

OK. Maybe reparadigm is OK. Pardigm. Thats 20 cents. I got a pair of dimes

Back in the day, we called that a paradigm shift.

A paradigm is a way of looking at the world; a world view. So re-paradigm doesn't make any kind of sense. Especially because it's a noun. You can't re-do nouns!

Of course, now a catchy phrase comes to mind, which would be appropriately nauseating for churches to use:
"Realign your paradigm with God's!"

All that to say, I guess I hate it, too, when churches and other religious organizations/people co-op words that have a specific meaning, and try to give it a different, more "spiritual" meaning to suit their own purposes. It just further alienates the Xian subculture from the rest of the world. Pretty soon, they'll practically be using a different language (if they're not already) in which common words with widely understood meanings and usages are used in completely different ways. Way to "keep it real" and "relate" to the rest of the world!

Oh no. I didnt mean to steal another of Dan's posts. I forgot all about that.

I was reading a bunch of weird stuff and thought of this. I guess my subconsious rememeberd his post.

Ninjanun,

You are right reparadigm doesnt make sense in that sense.

Though if your dime is damaged, you can repair it. LOL.

OK I found the willy nilly post. I guess it was different enough that I didnt steal it.

Intersting comments

I would add Willy Nilly and Round Robin to my list.

My hated word of all hated words...

Impact, when used as a verb, i.e, IMPACT your world. It be a NOUN, me hearties!!! Aaargh!!!

The words that I hate the most is "wifely duty". I have heard of this, and I hate how it's used. People (especially some women) say that it's your wifely duty to ______________. An example is, "it's your wifely duty to clean the house, and take care of your husband." I believe these words are pretty sexist.

I agree. Everyone knows there's only one true definition for wifely duty. [/cuemarvingaye] Cleaning the house and cooking dinner just bring confusion to the term.

Dorsey made me laugh out loud. Good post. I'm with ya. I used to hate it when I'd show up at church in High School and have someone ask me, "where's your walk?" I also hate it when people type "prolly" instead of "probably."
