Anyway, I am not belittling what happend by being introspective here. It really was a terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to the families of those people in Virginia.
It disturbs me that tragedy in other forms takes place in the world and we never hear of it, but it is still terrible.
I have to wonder what kind of world will my kids (if they ever exist) grow up in.

hi friend,
I saw your comment at the Crallspace, and wanted to drop you a line. My name is Tim and I share some of your views. I consider myself a Christian, though I don't go to church. I try to be like Christ and pretty much ignore the rest. Whether or not he died for my sins and rose from the dead doesn't speak to me, but just trying to be like him because I agree with his philosophy does. That and imagining the possible world if more people did the same.
I also noticed you are a self-described recovering republican. As such, we could really use you at the Corvallis Open Forum, which you probably know about through Dan's blog. Monday, I invited a bunch of College Republicans, in the interest of slowing down the polarization and I'm probably needlessly fretting but it'd be nice to have some backup from someone who's been there.
Hope to see you there, Saturdays 11:00 Riverfront Park.
TKN,
Thanks for the invite. If I can, I will be there.
